KAMALPUR, August 5 (TIWN): Anjan Das, CPIM Sub-divisional Secretary and MLA of Surma constituency denied the allegation of District Congress President Manoj Kanti Deb that he beat two rickshaw-pullers at Durai Shibbari on 29th July last. In a press meet arranged at Kamalpur CPIM party office last night Anjan condemned the allegation as ‘baseless and politically motivated’. The beaten rickshaw-puller father Arun Namasudra was also present in the press meet, which mumbled in denying the incident and at last resolved that not the MLA but his associates assaulted him a bit.
On 30th July last, District Congress President and former MLA Manoj Kanti Deb alleged that, a day before Anjan beat two rickshaw-puller son and father at Durai Shibbari while they chased and caught a person who fled with their rickshaw from Halhali market. Anjan was on his way towards Halhali when he witnessed the beating of one person by two and stopped there. He beat the father and son in broad day light and let the thief go.
This allegation was covered by different media including Tripura Observer. Although Anjan while interacting with Tripura Observer denied the allegation.
On this matter a Press Meet was organized at CPIM Kamalpur party office last night. In that meet Anjan denied the allegation. The beaten father Arun Namasudra was also present in the meet. He also denied the fact. But Arun admitted that he was beaten by the associates of Anjan.
In that Press Meet CPIM State Committee member Kamal Kar, Divisional Committee member Harimadhab Sharma, Woman leader Kalyani Roy, Kamalpur local Secretary Birendra Kairi was present.
