KAMALPUR, August 4 (TIWN): The lane got a name “Swadhin Saraniâ€. But the zigzag narrow lane filled with ditches hardly provided the inhabitants any pleasure or freedom of plying on it. Moreover, when the road needed any renovation the locales did it and the Nagar Panchayat authority remained in slumber.
The inhabitants donated land for constructing of wide road almost a decade ago. But in reality, the development-maniac (!) Nagar Panchayat authority could gift the area nothing but a board and a name of the road scribed on it. The scenario got prevailed at Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat ward no. 08.
In a part of ward no. 08 opposite to Ramthakur Ashram adjacent to Kamalpur Town Hall on the Kamalpur-Ambassa road in total ten families had been residing since long. They demanded for a wide and good road from decade ago. When Tapan Roy the deceased Nagar Panchayat Chairperson got elected from this ward in 2005, then the locales put their demand strongly.
After a prolonged discussion each family gave land free of cost to the authority for making a wide and well equipped road. But till then the process not forwarded an inch.
The locale alleged that, the authority attached their lane a name and a signboard almost three to four months ago. But the deplorable condition of the road still made their plying risky and due to the road minor accidents and injuries often occurred to the inhabitants. But would the Nagar Panchayat authority found any time to remedy it remained the question.
