UDAIPUR, Aug 1 (TIWN): The locals of Mailak Area of Amarpur sub-division on Friday demanded to construct a concrete bridge over the Gomati River after a five-member team of MLA visited the area to look around the necessity and problems.
At the discussion, the locals said the existing wooden bridge over the Gomati Rivers need keen eyes as every year it has to be mended. The existing wooden bridge had to be repaired once in a year.
During rainy season it turns pathetic leading a dangerous situation. It also happened that due to the pathetic condition of the bridge the locals had to use boats to cross the river.
The locals complained that the bridge is gradually losing its strength to hold the weight of any heavy vehicles. It is turning poor as the heavy vehicle passes through the bridge.
However, the students and peoples who are residing in the area and had to cross the river daily to go the schools, colleges, offices including many other, faces huge problem to cross the river.
Listening to the hue and cry of the locals the team of MLA assured to look into the situation and to bring up the plea at the Vidhan Sabha.
During the visit, the locals came up with different other problems faced in the area regarding roads, drinking water facilities and many others. The team of MLA also exchanged the views so that they can come to know more about the condition of the people.
MLA of Amarpur sub-division Monoranjan Acharjee, Tunubala Sarkar, Hari Charan Sarkar along with two others visited the area.
However, around 300 locals have participated at the discussion.
