KHOWAI, July 28 (TIWN): In a major haul, Khowai police on Tuesday confiscated 100 bottles of local liquor from Bachaibari area of Khowai District at around 10 am in the morning. Although police could not arrest anyone in this regard but investigation is going on.
After making secret investigation, Additional Superintendent of police Haripad Das, SDPO Rajiv Sengupta along with police troop rushed to the spot and seized 100 bottles of local made liquor from 5 shops of Bachaibari Market.
The police could not arrest the accused but investigation is going on.
According to the Additional SP Haripad Das, the shops were made of straw where the accused were continuing their illicit business.
Investigating officer in the case, Haripad Das, stated that during their routine patrolling in the area, they received the information that there are some shopkeepers who were engaged in selling liquor for prolonged days. The police party, comprising of SDPO Rajiv Sengupta, SI Mizanur Rehman and police force confiscated the bottles of liquor.
Additional SP said that this investigation will be continuing in the future also so that the people feel safe and secure in the area.
It has also been informed that in the current month the Khowai police have collected more than Rs. 1.50 lakh of fine and transferred it to Government Fund. The fines are collected from the bike riders and vehicle drivers who do not follow the traffic rules.
The Khowai Police have tightened its noose over the sale of liquor in illegal manner.
