UDAIPUR, July 12(TIWN): Raising suspicions of a deliberate attempt to stoke violence in the area, some unidentified miscreants have burnt a maruti van into ashes on Saturday late night at Dhajanagar area, near Jewel club under Udaipur sub-division.
The maruti van bearing number TR01F0543 was parked along the road side adjacent to jewel club of that area.
The owner of the car is identified as Subrata Roy.
It is suspected that the miscreants reportedly unplugged the petrol tube of the vehicle and set them on fire between 1 am and 2am, said police.
The motive behind the crime, that shocked and affected a large number of residents in the area, was not clear, said police.
The incident has spread severe panic in the area.
However, getting alarm the localities however informed the fire service crew on Saturday late night but by the time the fire service crew reached the spot the car was burnt into ashes.
By the morning R.K. Pur police reached the spot and investigated the area for collecting evidence related to the incident.
After preliminary investigation by police it was found that the owner Subrata Roy has given the car on rent to a driver of the area.
The driver however said that there might be possibility of short-circuit in the car which led to the spark of massive fire in the car.
According to the police officials, they received information around 5.53 am that a car has caught fire and no one knows who has the sat the car on fire.
However, police is further investigating the case.
