AGARTALA, July 11 (TIWN): RSS state unit on Saturday has launched a massive protest rally against the misrule of the CPI-M MLA (Nalchar) Tapan Das on the RSS workers. The RSS workers had also placed a deputation to Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy as a part of their protest and have demanded stern action against MLA Tapan Das. The rally was followed by street corner meeting at Rabindra Bhawan which moved across several parts of the city criticizing the violent attack on RSS workers by CPI-M MLA Tapan Das. However, Nripendra Roy of RSS' Tripura unit said that a group of CPI (M) cadres led by Das had asked the RSS unit members to pack up the yoga camp organized at Killamura Senior Basic School in east Nalchhar village, under Melaghar police station and leave the state as early as possible. The members RSS unit further claimed that MLA Das had even threatened them to death if they continue their yoga program. As the members refused to do this, the CPI (M) cadres ransacked the camp and kidnapped two of its members- Akshai Debnath and Rupamoy Vishwas, who were later rescued by the police, the RSS claimed. Roy has sought action against the accused and protection for the RSS members in that area.
Around 240 RSS members arrived in Tripura on July 1 for a week-long yoga camp and the two "kidnapped" functionaries hailing from Assam were entrusted with the task of helping organize the camp, said Roy.
Following this attack the RSS unit members has also filed a complaint with Melagarh police station but no immediate action is taken by the police, as the police may be bribed by the ruling party. Further the unit members have also forwarded a letter to Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, but even Chief Minister Manik Sarkar turned blind eyes on this issue, alleged RSS unit member Nripendra Roy.
Criticizing the role of misrule of the ruling government and demanding strict action against the CPI-M MLA Tapan Das, and condemning the attack against the RSS in Nalchar, RSS state unit has launched this rally.
