AGARTALA, July 2 (TIWN): Tripura State Rubber Manufacturer Council (TSRMC) on its third convention announced the committee report on Thursday at Muktodhara Auditorium.
Announcing the report on July 2, the council demanded to terminate the Indo-Asian Agreement which has been hampering the market rates of the local rubber resulting great loss for the local farmers. Besides, they urged the Central Government to provide sufficient funds so that the tribal can plant rubber trees over their allotted land to become self-sufficient.
They also demanded that the Rubber Board should take necessary initiatives to increase good quality’s rubber production in the state. Payment of the labours engaged with the rubber plantation should be paid keeping a note of the market rate of rubber.
The state should also take initiatives to enforce small rubber industries for the benefits of the people who are engaged to it. Development should be made in the present rubber factories including enforcement of some more public and private industries in the state.
While constructing metal road in place of bitumen, rubber should be used for roads. Besides, the council also demanded to increase the number of Community Processing Centre at the rubber producing area. The council further demanded to provide rubber garden to the poor Jhumias under MGNREGA project including other demands.
