AGARTALA, June 18 (TIWN): The 66th State based Van Mahotsav will be celebrated at Jirania Birendranagar Boys Higher Secondary School on July 1.
During the programme, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar will be present. The theme of the programme will be ‘Save Howrah and Keep Howrah Clean’
Van Mahotsav which was started as a crusade with a lofty purpose to save the earth will be observed with plantation of saplings in various schools and Anganwadi of the area. Also with an aim to create awareness among the people, the concern authority is going to schedule various sports and competition.
The awareness among the people will lead them to know about the importance of trees for the survival of livelihood in the earth and the harm caused due to the deforestation. The people also need to understand about the essential role played by the trees to reduce global warming.
Keeping eye on the Van Mahotsav which will commence on July 1, competitions and other programmes will begin from June 26.
Further, on this occasion, two thousand saplings of fifty species will be deployed to plant it in different schools and Anganwadi. Also, various cultural programmes will be observed at the Kumulung Music College, Choudhuri Bari Girls Higher Secondary School and Ranigang Girls Higher Secondary School on July 1.
