Agartala, Aug 12 (TIWN) Tripura’s first woman Cabinet Minister and senior Congress leader Basana Chakraborty died at her Joynagar residence after a pro-longed illness at the age of 84. She breathed her last at around 10 pm, last Saturday.

 Survived by a son, six daughters, late Basana won the election from Barjala Constituency in 1972 and then became minister of Social Welfare and Co-operative in the Sukhamoy Sengupta Ministry.
