UDAIPUR, June 5 (TIWN): Amidst tight security, for the first time, after being appointed as the Governor of Tripura Tathagata Roy and first lady Anuradha Roy visited the Udaipur Tripureshwari temple on Friday morning 11.30 AM and offered prayer in the temple. Tathagata Roy’s visit in the temple has attracted huge number of crowd in the temple to take a glance of the newly appointed Governor of the state.
Governor of Tripura Tathagata Roy and first lady Anuradha Roy was welcomed by Gomoti District DM Sonal Goel and along with other dignitaries at the premises of the temple.
70-year-old civil engineer turned politician appointed was by the President of India Pranab Mukharjee.
However, after offering prayer in the temple he took a visit around the premises of temple and also visited the Udaipur Circuit house for a while.
However, Governor Tathagata Roy's appointment brought cheers across state as the people are hopeful that corruption tainted rule under present CPI-M government will come to an end in 2018.
President of India Pranab Mukharjee on May 12 appointed 70-year-old Roy, a former president of the BJP's West Bengal unit Tathagata Roy, as the 16th governor of Tripura.
