AGARTALA, May 26 (TIWN): The fast track additional district and session court on Monday sends accused husband to life term imprisonment on charge of killing his wife. The court also fined him Rs. 5000.
The incident occurred on April 29, 2014 at Hapania area after accused husband identified as Bhajan Das set fire on his wife Putul Das’ body. Since then accused husband Bhajan managed to hide himself from police trap.
Bhajan’s wife Putul Das breathes her last on May 17, 2014 as she sustained serious injury and maximum parts of her body was burnt. Reportedly since after their which passed 17 years husband Bhajan often used to torture wife Putul Das brutally. This was the daily routine of Bhajan to leave his wife injured.
On April 29 Bhajan as usual and as part his daily routine has beaten his wife severely and later put kerosene on Putul’s body, though Putul managed to escape from the spot and took shelter at her relatives house but husband Bhajan succeed to set fire on her body later.
However on Monday hearing the case the fast track on its final verdict has send the accused to life term imprisonment and fined him Rs. 5000. A total of 17 witnesses deposed before the court.
