KAMALAPUR, May 16 (TIWN): Rs. 3, 98, 80, 119.15 rupees for construction of 5.752 km road from Dabbari to Chengmungi got embezzled and misappropriated by the contractor alleged the VC Vice chairman and MDC alongwith local people. The road constructed under 2014-2015 fiscal in the Jamthum VC of Kamalpur Subdivision lost its minimum requisition of quality.

In 2014-2015, a 5.752 km of road from Dabbari to Chengmungi under Jamthum VC was sanctioned.

The work was entitled to some Mintu Pal, contractor and it started on 05/03/2014. The work was scheduled to end on 05/09/2015. The work was contracted at a rate of 69, 33, 261.32 rupees per kilometer. But the contractor did the work at his will. The road was constructed very narrowly and long patches of road remained uncovered. Even, the contractor took the bricks of a nearby road promising its renovation. But, later he denied doing so. Mysteriously, none of the authority from PWD(R&B) was ever seen on the spot for supervision.

Ramkumar Halam, the Vice-chairman of Jamthum Village Council expressed his utter anguish over the quality of work and the half done parts.

The newly elected MDC Badarbhum Halam, who is also from that very area, admitted the fact of poor quality and misappropriation and demanded stringent action from the part of the authority.

Would the slumber of PWD(R&B) will break soon or not, is the question of the time.
