Udaipur, May 13 (TIWN): A huge number of ponds and agricultural lands in Udaipur are filling up; would affect the natural balance of the atmosphere. It has been seen that since the last few years almost all the ponds had been filled up and sold from Rajarbaag to Udaipur town area. Now this has been reached out in village areas too.
It has been noticed that from Chandrapur to Bhrahmabari area there had been used to have a large number of agricultural lands and ponds. But the natural environment of this area has been started to getting effected. Agricultural lands are filling up very fast and replacing by big buildings. Along with this the number of water sources are also decreasing. If it goes like this, then within few years Udaipur, which is called the “city of lakes” will hardly have any natural water sources.
It is to be mentioned here that if anybody wants to fill up any pond then it needs a special permission from the DM. High officials are accepted to verify a thing before issuing. The ponds which are fulfilling now a days it will surely affect the natural environment.
On the other hand while the Govt. is giving special permissions to fill up the ponds on the other hand there is no rules or restrictions against the rubber plantation. Many seminars and campaigns are being arranged to aware people to save nature, whether these are just for show. When it comes to the environmental rules negligence from the govt.’s side becomes visible.
