AGARTALA, May 12 (TIWN): Rainstorm affected the normal life in Tripura. Cyclonic rains and thunder storms disrupted power supply in most of the areas of the city Agartala and other areas of the State. However, one person reported injured of the lightening/thunderstorm at Khowai district.
Heavy rain threw normal life out of gear in Tripura. Heavy intermittent rain and thunder shower of Northwester severely affected power supply since Monday morning across the State. Sources in the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) said that storm on Monday morning had badly affected electric supply across the state and massive restoration works have been begun in all affected areas of the state.
However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the sky in Agartala and its vicinity will remain partially cloudy, rain and thunder showers may occur in some areas of Tripura. MET department sources said, rain and heavy and moderate thunderstorm may occur in more areas of Tripura during next 48 hours.
On the other hand, mother and son at Khowai were injured by the lightening of thunderstorm at Khowai. Sources informed tunnel was created at about 9 a.m. today by thrust of thunder in the courtyard of Kartik Karmakar at South Singicherra of Khowai.
That tunnel immediately reached at the house of Kartik Karmakar and damaged all electric equipments including electric fan, light etc. The tunnel stopped near the bottom of a mango tree.
As a result Kartik and his mother were injured. Later on they have been shifted to Khowai Hospital and released after preliminary treatment.
