KAMALPUR, MAY 11, (TIWN): The renovation and maintenance work of Halhali-Fatikroy NEC road turned into a den of public sufferings. The contractor got continuing the work at his will causing unwanted pause of vehicular movement on the road. Besides, the PWD(R&B) Kamalpur division deployed no work assistant at the spot, which made the contractor to violate the conditions of quality of work, alleged the local people.

Almost every year, PWD(R&B) Kamalpur division spends crores of rupees to renovate and maintain the Halhali-Fatikroy and Manikbhander-Asharambari NEC roads. This year too, the renovation and maintenance works started at Halhali-Fatikroy NEC road. In the work, the contractor in an effort to hurriedly complete the work created much problem for commoners. For loading and unloading soil from the road side, the contractor got stopping the vehicular movements on the road at his will. As a result, the ailing patients, older persons and passengers faced great problems. Moreover, the authority not deployed any work assistant for supervision and using the chance, the contractor rampantly compromising with the quality of the work. Local people alleged that, the quality of the work would once again make the department to work on the road in the very next year.
