AGARTALA, May 8 (TIWN): A Maruti van bearing number TR01-Q-0639 caught fire on Friday in the high-security zone near Chief Minister’s residence but no one was injured in the incident, said fire service officials.
According to the officials, they received a call at around 9:45 am that a car went up in flames at Lenin Sarani. One fire tender was used to tackle the fire which was doused by 10:00 am.
"The car belongs to Tapash Das son of Sambhu Das resident of Ushabazar area. It seems that the Maruti van caught fire due to short circuit in its electrical wiring. We are waiting for a report from the fire department," said police.
Eyewitnesses said the car was going towards District & Sessions Judge court from Ushabazar area when smoke started coming out of its bonnet. By the time its driver stopped the vehicle and came out, it went up in flames.
