AGARTALA, April 17 (TIWN): CPI-M leader Goutam Das urged the public to oppose the 12 hours strike called by the TPCC President Birajit Sinha on April 18 regarding the Pecharthal Block incident.
Earlier, TPCC President Birajit Sinha called dawn to dusk strike on April 18 at Pecharthal Block, appealed the public not to take the law in their hand but to keep in protest in a democratic way.
“The state govt. has been fooling the REGA workers since for a long period of time and has gained a momentum on it, while the REGA workers are deprived at large,” Birajit Sinha said.
However it is worthy to be mentioned here that hundreds of MGNREGA workers has been witnessed since the last couple of months ransacking the Block Development Officer’s office across the state over irregularity payment of their wages.
The violence on Monday had come up after the deprived REGA beneficiaries gheraod the BDO in demand of their 6 months pending wages. Several agitators were brutally attacked by the high tempered TSR jawans. The TSR also allegedly open fired on the agitators and left one critically injured.
It is also to be mentioned here that the strike called by the TPCC President Birajit Sinha on April 18 regarding the Pecharthal Block incident is likely to become a battle between the congress and CPI-M in wake of Tripura Tribal Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election which will be held on May 3.
