AGARTALA, April 16 (TIWN): Pecharthal RD Block all set for 12 hours strike on April 18, with the tension ruins due to the delay in REGA payment to the deprived workers. Visiting to the Block area on Tuesday the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) team, demanded for the payment of wages soon.
The unprecedented incident occurred on Monday at Pecharthal Block in Kumarghat sub-division has virtually rocked the entire area. The security forces were deployed to keep a tight vigil in the area.
The Pradesh Congress demanded that on Monday the TSR police were made to open fire unnecessarily on the deprived workers. However but it is worthy to be mentioned here that the CPI (M) on Tuesday following the state most surprisingly stated that the concerned Buddha Mandir at Pecharthal Block area is a hub of extremists, while several women on the very day of the incident has taken a shelter at the temple due to the fear of the TSR firing.
However, but after the Rural Development Minister after the incident stated that the fund for the payment of the wages to the REGA workers are available, the congress on Wednesday talking to TIWN over phone said, “If the funds are available here with the state govt. than how come the payment to the REGA workers are delayed across the state?”
It is also worthy to be mentioned here that barely the dust of Pecharthal could be settled, another similar incident occurred at Gandacherra on Tuesday after at least 2 villagers were injured at Boalkhali area under Raishyabari Police Station when TSR jawans charged lathis on them.
However, but the congress on Wednesday condemning the TSR attack on the helpless villagers and the REGA workers demanded for the payment of the wages soon to the workers. It has been since more than 6 months that the REGA workers across the state were deprived from their payment inspite of available funds with the state govt.
