AGARTALA, March 19 (TIWN): Health care services in the northeastern state of Tripura got a much-needed a boost when St. Joseph Hospital was formally inaugurated by Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly Pabitra Kar at West Noabadi on the outskirts of Agartala town, here today.
Addressing in the inaugural ceremony Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly Pabitra Kar called it a ‘boon for the people of Tripura’. Minister of education department Tapan Chakraborty and others dignitaries were present in the inaugural ceremony.
Most Rev Lumen Monteiro, CSC, DD, Bishop said that St. Joseph Hospital located at West Noabadi on the outskirts of Agartala town is the first hospital in the state to run under the aegis of the Catholic Diocese of Agartala. Sisters of St. Joseph of Annecy who built and run St. Joseph Hospital is an international congregation of the Catholic Church and runs hospitals and dispensaries in other parts of the country, he added.
With its qualified team of physicians, nurses and health educators it is hoped, the 50 bedded St. Joseph Hospital will provide high quality, client-centred care of patients that come for treatment, he mentioned.
At the moment the following facilities will be available at St. Joseph Hospital: Critical care unit (Casualty), Out patient department (OPD), General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Laboratory service (Pathology, Hematology, Biochemistry) and Holistic Nursing Care.
