Udaipur, Matabari,March 16 (TIWN):Like every year on first Day of "Chaitra" Month is the only day in year when no regular Brahmin priests perform the daily rituals of presiding deity Maa Tripureshwari of Udaipur’s famous Tripura Sundari Temple.
Today all puja rituals are performed by Jamatia community which is a long tradition since centuries from erstwhile era of Tripura kings . Thousands of Jamatia devotees thronged from all over Tripura at Matabari, many volunteers and Baba Garia Mission, local authorities co-ordinated traffic and other facilities.


This custom has been continuing from the King’s era. Jamatias are basically “Ksatriyas” or those who were in the erstwhile King’s army have developed a unique culture since centuries. Jamatias perform pujas at Matabari Temple, but as well as the “Mahadeb Bari (Central Road, Udaipur); Lord Shiva is another form of Baba Garia.
