Agartala, March 15 (TIWN): College of Fisheries (CAU) organised an interface meeting on Aquaculture Development with the state and district officials of the state department of Fisheries, Animal Resource Development, State Land Use Board, ICAR Tripura centre, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Agri based NGOs and few progressive fish farmers here on March 13.
The meeting was aimed at sharing information on the status of aquaculture and future plans related to technology generation for aquaculture production systems; establishing priorities in enhancing fish productivity and ensuring sustainable development of fisheries and aquaculture in Tripura.
Santirai Riyan, Director of Fisheries, Government of Tripura was the Chief Guest. He has highlighted the present status of aquaculture in Tripura and challenges like paucity of appropriate picsicide, quality fish seed and sustainability of the aquaculture development efforts in the state.
Dean of the College, Prof. R. K. Saha, expert from State department of Fisheries, Tripura and Dr. M. Datta, Joint Director, ICAR Tripura centre made presentation on various aspects of aquaculture development in the state including on-going research and outreach activities at their institutions during technical session. The entire program was coordinated by Dr. D. K. Pandey, organizing secretary and Head, department of Fisheries Extension of the College.
