AGARTALA, March 14 (TIWN): With a motto of “Act, Rise and Shine†the Molsom Youth Association (MYA) today demanded for the recognition of the Molsom festival “Anthar Buthar†and declare 22nd October as a state holiday every year. However, with 5 points charter of demands with the state govt. and the ADC the MYA delegation today held a press conference at Agartala Press Club.
The five points charter of demands includes to hike the state fund and co-operation to the Molsom Festival, “Anthar Buthar”, to provide support to the conservation of the historical accessories of the Molsom community, dresses and others, to provide financial support for the conservation of the Molsom cultural dresses, and other demands.
The “Anthar Buthar” festival of the Molsom community is being practiced by their forefathers since longs years ago. The Anthar Buthar festival is one of the most important occasions of the Molsom as well as for the Halam community.
However, as per the statistical record of the year 2014, Molsoms were 40, 000 in population out of which 48% were female and 52% of the total population were male. In Tripura the Molsom were inhabited in almost all the districts of Tripura except Unakoti and Belonia districts.
