AGARTALA, March 12 (TIWN): The 159th battalion Border Security Force (BSF) seized a huge consignment of phensedyl valued Rs 40 lakh at Panisagar on Tuesday night.
Acting on tip-off, jawans of 159th battalion Border Security Force (BSF) recovered 32000 bottles of Phensedyl from a truck on National Highway at Panisagar on Tuesday night. Based on secret inputs available with the jawans of ‘G’ branch, 159 battalion BSF, the troops raided a 12 wheeler lorry bearing number TR01- X-1700 which entered into the state through Churaibari check-post in the wee hours of Tuesday night.
During the search, the troops of BSF recovered altogether 32000 bottles of Phensedyl worth Rs. 40 lakh which were concealed under plastic like substances and umbrellas inside the vehicle. After receiving information on seizure of huge number of contraband items, Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Dharmanagar Shisir Das and DCM Sanjib Chakma visited the spot and inspected the seized items. The driver and co-driver of the vehicle managed to flee away and left the lorry beside the national highway. Police seized the recovered contraband items and the lorry and taken them to the police station.
