AGARTALA, March 10 (TIWN): On yet another pre-poll violence a section of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state wing workers were allegedly attacked by the CPI (M) cadres today at Belonia restricting their membership drive. However FIR has been lodged at the Belonia police station with the duo party alleging against each other.
The incident occurred on Monday at Belonia in-front of the college campus, when some of the BJP state wing workers went there for a membership drive. It was alleged that a section of rulling CPI (M) cadres today under the leadership of Rajiv Chakroborty and Uttam Dey made an attack on the BJP workers to restrict their membership drive campaign. Some of the BJP workers under the leadership of Raju Nath, Goutam Sarkar, Dilip Baishnab sat in-front of the Belonia college campus for membership collection.
However later, when the allegedly attacked BJP workers were moving towards the police station to lodge FIR, another section of the cadres allegedly under the leadership of Councilor Madhab Rai blocked their way and restricted them to enter the police station. At the meantime some of the left baked SFI workers entered the police station and lodged an FIR with the police alleging that the BJP workers had beaten up some of the college students entering into the college campus. Though later the BJP workers who were allegedly attacked by the CPI (M) cadres today lodged an FIR with the police.
However the incident has triggered a huge resentment among the political environment of the state as the TTAADC election is drawing near.
