Agartala, March 8 (TIWN):In order to remove disparity between student-teacher ratio in government schools, the Education Department will release the second list of teachers on Monday next. According to sources of the department, a large number of teachers in the state will be transferred within next week from all district education offices.
Officials from the department revealed that they were ready with the list of teachers to be transferred. Within a week’s time, the list would be released.
Sources said as per the analysis done by the department, it was examined that government schools located within the city had higher number of teachers than the required average, while the periphery schools, which have a large number of students, had shortage of teachers.
With the department planning for a major exercise of transfers, many educationists will face the axe.
“The department is all set to carry out the transfers of teachers on a rational basis in the primary sections. The exercise is being carried out in order to ensure that there is no skewed distribution of student-teacher ratio.” said the official to TIWN requesting anonymity.
Some teachers are allegedly working at same school for 20 to 25 years. But their name was not included in the transfer list. On the other hand many of the teachers were transferred after working 4 to 5 years. One source of the department said that about 2000 teachers could be transferred from all eight district including UGT,Graduate, and PGT teachers.
