AGARTALA, March 5 (TIWN): The annual budget of the 2015-16 was passed in the Tripura Legislative Assembly on Wednesday. However, the 15 cut motion raised by the opposition were again rejected on the basis of majority vote.
On wednesday, at the last day of the session, because of the lack of time, the calling attention notice and the reference notice called upon by the MLA’s of both the treasury bench and the opposition was layed before the House by Speaker. Then the discussion on the cut motions were raised by opposition MLA Diba Chandra Hrwanghkhal, Asish Saha, Gopal Roy, Bishwa Bandhu sen , Jitendra Sarkar . At first Diba Chandra Hrwanghkhal focused on the deplorable condition of the roads in National Highway and the malaria epidemic in the State. While delivering the speech Mr. Hrwanghkhal told that the malaria epidemic illustrates its effect on the tribal habitation, and the innocent childrens were mostly affected by this deadly disease.
MLA Asish Kumar Saha focused on the scam on the Horticulture Department at North Tripura. He told that though the scam of Rs 5 crore 23 lakhs were highlighted, but the Government on their part does not take any necessary steps for investigation. Other than that Bishwa bandhu Sen highlighted the various irregularities of the State Government in the usual poem manner.
In rejecting the opposition’s cut motion Agriculture Minister Aghore Debbarma and Health and PWD Minister, Badal chowdhury had presented their own point of view. Agriculture Minister focused that the respective Government had taken fruitful steps for the development of horticulture and agriculture. Besides that the investigation on the horticulture scam is under process. If anyone found guilty, then proper steps should be taken against him- Minister further added.
Health and PWD Minister told that to tackle the malaria, Government had taken proper steps. He also advised the doctors to maintain their duty in hospitals. After the speech of the Ministers, Speaker Ramendra Chandra Debnath, called for the Annual budget to be passed in the Assembly. At last Appropriation Bill were passed in the Parliament. Then, the Speaker had adjourned the assembly for uncertain period. It is to be mentioned that the Finance Minister, Bhanulal Saha had presented the annual budget of 14948.92 crore on February 11th at the Assembly.
