HC rejects scamster Arnab Chakraborty’s bail plea

Agartala, March 3 (TIWN): The High Court of Tripura today rejected the bail plea of Arnab Chakraborty who is behind the bars for allegedly misappropriating huge funds under Rastriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA) by forging signature through several cheques.
The Additional Mission Director of RMSA had filed an FIR against the treasurer Arnab Chakraborty at West Agartala police station on September 5, last year in this connection. Later, a special team of police arrested him from Kolkata on September 14, last year.
It was revealed in the investigation that cashier Arnab Chakraborty had withdrew a large fund by forging signature of higher authority under RMSA through several cheques.
During interrogation, Arnab earlier disclosed that he had transferred huge amount of money embezzled from the RMSA funds into bank accounts of his wife and mother.
It is worthy to mention here, Sangita Chakraborty (wife) and Kajal Rani Chakraborty (mother) were also booked for their alleged involvement in the multi-crore RMSA scam but they were later released on bail order.
However, the sleuths succeeded to seize Rs. 1 crore from the bank accounts of his wife and mother in different private banks.
