Agartala, March 3 (TIWN): State election commissioner S.K. Rakesh has convened a meeting of SPs and DMs of all eight district at secretariat conference hall on Monday to review the security arrangement for the upcoming TTAADC election likely to held on last week April or first week of May.
According to election department sources, SPs and DMs gave briefing about the strength of security personnel including both of state and central paramilitary at all eight district. The commissioner also told all officials present to categorize all the 1074 polling booths.
Meanwhile, till Monday around 2200 claims and objections were submitted after the publication of drafted electoral roll. The claim and objection would be disposed on 7 March. The TTAADC authority has already geared up for conducting District Council elections in right sprit and all the departmental heads were asked to inaugurate completed projects fall under the tribal council.
Keeping in mind of the upcoming tribal council elections, political parties have also stepped activities to prepare the ground for the elections. While the ruling CPM looks set to the front runner for retaining TTAADC once again, two tribal based political parties- INPT and TPFT have been trying to win the elections at any cost.
Interestingly, the main opposition Congress and the BJP are yet to begin ground work though around two months to go for the elections.
However, political arithmetic for the upcoming ADC elections is expected to get a new twist if the INPT joins hand with its old friend-IPFT. But many INPT leaders are against forging political understanding with IPFT for its strong anti-Bengali sentiment
