AGARTALA, March 1 (TIWN): At least three Bangladeshi youths were detained from Lankamura outskirts of Agartala ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election. The three has been produced before the court today. The detained Bangladeshis were identified as Mohmmod Sabuj Sarkar (23), Masu ud-din (20) and Jahangir Hussain (19).
The incident occurred on Saturday night when the locals of Lonkamura detained three Bangladeshi youths after they were found crossed the border and made an entrance in to the Indian Territory. However, later the concerned BSF jawans handed over the three Bangladeshis to Ramnagar out post and later the West PS police brought the three under their custody. The three were produced before the court today.
No accessories and unwanted materials have been found with the three detained youths, Police said. Besides, the incident has triggered resentment among the locals.
Meanwhile, Border Security Forces (BSF) and state police have intensified their vigilance in the bordering areas because of political unrest in the neighboring Bangladesh.
