TSF constitutes executive committee

Agartala, February 28 (TIWN): The new central executive committee for the year 2015-17 of Twipra Students’ Federation (TSF) was constituted in its two-day long 35th central committee convention held at Gabardi community hall on February 16 and 17.
The new committee was formed as- Umasankar Debbarma (president), Ratan Debbarma, Biswajit Kalai (vice-presidents), Sunil Debbarma (general secretary) and Mangal Chand Debbarma, Mithun Debbarma (joint secretaries) and other members for 7 more posts, said newly appointed president Umasankar Debbarma in a press meet at Agartala Press Club, here today.
Speaking in the press conference, he further said that 17-point charter of demands was adopted unanimously after a thorough discussion by the newly formed central body of TSF in the convention.
As many as 200 representatives from all over the state, students of colleges and schools and members of TSF from Shilong, Dehradun and Guwahati units attended the two-day long annual conference, said Debbarma.
In the convention, chairman of advisory committee, TSF- Upendra Debbarma administered the oath of office to the newly elected members, Debbarma added.
Among the 6 educational demands, the key demands of the committee are; Kokborok language should be taught in Roman script upto University level, stipends should be hiked for the students belong to Schedule Tribal (ST) community and cut-off mark should be introduced in Tripura Joint Entrance examination from the next academic session.
Of the total 10 political demands, main demands of TSF are; Inner Line Permit (ILP) Regulation Act should be introduced in TTAADC areas, 50 percent of total seats should be reserved in Tripura Legislative Assembly, empowerment should be provided to TTAADC for the existence of indigenous people of the state and Kokborok language should be enlisted in the 8th schedule of Indian Constitution, he added.
