Agartala, February 26 (TIWN): A three-day long exhibition on ‘Cultural Heritage of Manipur’ was inaugurated at Tripura State Museum in Agartala here today.
Higher Education Director- Dr. Bipradas Palit inaugurated the exhibition by lighting ceremonial lamp in presence of other dignitaries including Goutam Sharma of Tripura State Museum and Dr. L Dhanapati Devi of Manipur State Museum.
The exhibition is organized by the Manipur State Museum in collaboration with Department of Art and Culture, Manipur government. The exhibition on Cultural Heritage of Manipur is scheduled to be continued till February 28.
In the exhibition, a portion of Manipuri culture including Paphal, Paraphernalia of Umang Lai (Ancestral Deity), Salai Thang (Clan Sword), portrait of Kings and Noblemen of Manipur, Meitei textiles, royal objects, Meitei jewellery ornaments and traditional games of Manipur will be displayed.
According to a press note, Manipur is endowed with a rich cultural diversity. The exhibits of Manipur State Museum highlight the cultural prosperities of the Meiteis of both pre and post-Hindu era. The exhibits also include artifacts from excavations that are Buddhist in character and texture.
