Agartala, February 24 (TIWN): The Chief Minister (CM) Manik Sarkar has directed the District Magistrates (DMs)of all the eight districts to increase the mandays in REGA project. Though the current financial year (FY) is going to be ended soon but the CM has asked the concerned officials to make the most of the available time and resource. In a review meeting held at State Secretariat, today, housing , sanitation and REGA works were discussed in the presence of the CM and other designated officials.
In 1118 Gram Panchayat and village committee areas of Fifty eight blocks across the state, the REGA works are going on. The CM has further directed the Chief Secretary and the Secretary
(Finance) to arrange the adequate funds so that the DMs can make highest generation of mandays in their respective districts.
As our sources report, the Chief Secretary (CS) has been asked to write to union Rural Development (RD) ministry to allot more funds for the current fiscal’s REGA works.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has further advised the minister of rural development to review the progress of REGA project at an interval of seven days. To add to that, 6, 36,811 families across the state have been provided with job cards for REGA works.
