Khowai, February 16 (TIWN): At least three passengers have sustained severe injuries in a tragic road mishap at Mohanbari area of Barmura under Khowai police station here today.

The three injured passengers were identified as- Nitya Jamatia (37), Mukundlal Debbarma (53) and Sharmila Debbarma (37), said police. All of the injured persons are undergoing treatment at GBP hospital.

According to police, while driving, the driver of the vehicle (Tata Winger) bearing number TR01-C-4191 was engaged in call over cell phone. The vehicle was proceeding towards Mohanbari from Agartala.

After receiving information on accident, police of Baijalbari outpost rushed to the spot and seized the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle is absconding, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Baijalbari police station.
