CM inaugurates 33rd Agartala Book Fair

AGARTALA, February 13 (TIWN): "There is no alternative of book. It connects the past with present and acts as ready reference for future besides nourishing human qualities", said Chief minister Manik Sarkar while inaugurating the 33rd Agartala Book Fair at Umakanta Academy Ground, here today. The book fair will continue till February 24.
He further said that students should be motivated for reading books and teachers should take the responsibility in achieving the goal.
Book fair not only displays books of the state, but also provides a platform for an interaction between both readers and writers.
Book fairs are obviously a big thing for all areas, particularly for backward places like us. First and foremost it gives a big exposure to the new books that are coming out, and it also encourages new writers. This is one of the best platforms for interaction between the writers and the readers, Manik mentioned.
Altogether 126 stalls are opened in the fair. 3 stalls from New Delhi, 42 stalls from Kolkata, 1 from Mumbai, 1 from Kerala, 4 from Guwahati, 1 from Bangladesh and 72 from Agartala participated in the fair.
Eminent personality and trustee of Liberation War Museum, Dhaka Dr. Sarwar Ali, Information, Cultural Affairs Minister Bhanulal Saha and other dignitaries were present in the inaugural ceremony.
