Agartala, February 13 (TIWN): With an effort to store vegetables and other perishable goods fresh, construction of six cold storages is in progress at different places in Tripura, said Agriculture Minister Aghore Debbarma in written reply of the questions raised by MLAs during Day-5 annual budget session in Tripura Assembly.
To keep the harvests produced by farmers fresh, a total of six ware houses at Amarpur, Khowai, Ambassa, Udaipur, Belonia and Dharmanagar are undergoing construction. Among them, the construction of Khowai cold storage will be completed by July, this year, said Debbarma.
In written reply of several questions raised by MLAs- Manoranjan Acharjee, Samir Deb Sarkar, Ashis Kumar Saha and Pranjit Singha Roy during Day-5 Assembly Session, the agriculture minister informed that as many as 12 cold storages exist in state. Among them 8 cold storages including five government and three private cold storages are remained operational. Of the total, four are multipurpose cold storage, added the minister.
