AMARPUR/UDAIPUR, February 11 (TIWN): District & Session Judge Ashis Pal today convicted one fisherman of Amarpur of murdering his fellow fisherman unintentionally and sentenced him to 7 years of imprisonment.
On 13/02/2014 a fisherman namely Kanu Kumar Das, S/O- Jogesh Ch Das of Shanti Pally and Dulal Das, SO- Nimai Das had a tussle regarding the sale of fishes. In a fit of temper, hit his fellow fisherman Dulal Das struck Kanu Kumar Das on the head with a hard stick of wood. The incident took place near Amarpur Daily Bazaar area. At once the Kanu was seriously injured and admitted to Amarpur Hospital but as his condition was critical he was referred to Tripurasundari Hospital and then to ILS HOSPITAL of Agartala where Dulal breathed his last on 16th February 2014.
On the same date Kanu's brother Pintu Das lodged a case against against Dulal Das in Amarpur Police Station and accordingly police atrested Dulal Das on that date. After completing investigation on this incident police submitted the charge sheet.
On 11th February District & Session Judge Ashis Pal after recording the statement of 16 witnesses gave his verdict and sentenced Dulal Das to 7 years imprisonment and imposed a penalty of Rs 10000/- under Section 304 Part -II of IPC accusing him guilty of 'unintentional murder'. The Magistrate also ordered six months more imprisonment if the penalty is not paid. On behalf of the Govt APP Biplab Anti Datta was the Prosecution Lawyer.
