AGARTALA, Jan 1 (TIWN): 31st December is never the same for everyone. Lucky ones spend time with family, friends, in restaurants, KFCs but for the cops, they can not be with the families. As photo-jouranlists at late-nights were clicking pictures, videographing to collect the year ending news for you, there were police officials who also did not rest but were on road — to make sure everyone is secure and safe.
Drunk drivers were also put in problems as police alongside checking also had conducted liquor tests.
“Few people were arrested because of violations of the laws in Agartala. Your happiness should not become the cause of others’ losses,” said an on-duty cop to the media.
Speed limits were also checked by police in various parts of the state to ensure road safety.
Firecrackers were burnt across the city, leading the Fire Dept also to stay on alert the whole night.
No disturbance was reported on the 31st night and security measures were tightened since early evening.
