AGARTALA, Oct 22 (TIWN): A recent raid on restaurants and shops in Melaghar has led to the seizure of expired food items and imposition of fines. The raid was conducted by the Melaghar Municipal Corporation's Deputy CEO, Food Safety Officer, and police personnel.
During the inspection, the team found a popular restaurant in Melaghar to be serving expired meat, spices, and paneer. The kitchen was found to be in an unhygienic condition, with signs of pest infestation and improper food storage. The officials seized the expired and spoiled food items and imposed fines on the establishment.
Locals have welcomed the administration's efforts to crack down on such establishments, but some believe that more frequent inspections are needed to prevent such incidents in the future.
