AGARTALA, Oct 22 (TIWN): Students of Ramrai Bari High School in Jolaibari, under Santirbazar sub-division, have boycotted classes and locked the school premises in protest over the transfer of two popular teachers, Pramod Ranjan Bhowmik and Jayanta Majumder.
The students had been agitating since the transfer orders were issued, demanding that the teachers be retained. Despite assurances from the school committee, the students were disappointed to find new teachers posted and their beloved teachers leaving the school. This led to further protests, with students locking the school and refusing to attend classes.
The students have also expressed outrage against an official who allegedly made derogatory remarks, calling them "CPIM" for protesting and questioning the role of parents in paying teachers' salaries. The students have demanded action against the official and the police officers who allegedly threatened them with disciplinary action, including expulsion and lathi charge.
The students are determined to continue their agitation until their demands are met, raising questions about the administration's response to the issue.
