AGARTALA, Oct 9 (TIWN): A group of agitated locals from N.C. Nagar area met with Sonamura SDPO Shashimohan Debbarma on Thursday, demanding the arrest of all accused in the murder of Suleiman Hossain, a 22-year-old youth who was killed over gold smuggling allegations about a month ago.
The main accused, Ruksana Begum, has already been arrested by the police. However, seven others named in the FIR are still at large. The locals warned that if the accused are not arrested within the next seven days, they will launch a larger agitation.
SDPO Debbarma assured the locals that the investigation is progressing rapidly and the remaining accused will be arrested soon. N.C. Nagar Panchayat member Aktar Hossain stated that while the locals have temporarily called off their agitation due to the administration's assurance, they will take further action if the accused are not apprehended within the specified timeframe.
