AGARTALA, Oct 8 (TIWN): A tense situation unfolded in Kadamtala area on Wednesday morning when the BJP allegedly disrupted a CPI(M) protest. The CPI(M) had organized a road blockade in front of the Kadamtala block to demand the restoration of constitutional rights for the local people.
As the CPI(M) supporters gathered at the block, a BJP-led "Thank You Rally" converged on the same area, leading to a face-off between the two groups. The situation escalated when BJP supporters, led by district president Kajal Das, approached the CPI(M) office, prompting a confrontation.
The police and TSR personnel intervened, and a major clash was averted. However, the CPI(M) supporters were forced to retreat under pressure from the BJP, who gave them an ultimatum to vacate the area within 10 minutes.
