AGARTALA, Oct 7 (TIWN): A severe water crisis has gripped two villages in Tripura's Kailashahar area, with residents going without drinking water for over 10 days. The villagers of Golakpur ADC Village and Halai Chhara village under Sarojini Gram Panchayat have been affected due to a burst pipe in the water supply system.
Despite repeated complaints to local authorities, including the Public Health Engineering Department and panchayat representatives, no action has been taken to repair the pipeline. The villagers have now taken to the streets, blocking a major road and demanding immediate restoration of water supply.
The blockade has caused inconvenience to commuters and traffic, with police and TSR personnel deployed at the scene to maintain law and order. Villagers have expressed frustration over the department's apathy, alleging that officials have shown scant regard for their plight.
