AGARTALA, Sep 29 (TIWN): A CPI(M) supporter’s rubber plantation was vandalized in the Purathal Rajnagar area under Madhupur police station. Debaprasad Choudhury, a CPI(M) supporter, alleged that miscreants had destroyed over 300 rubber trees in his plantation.
This is not the first incident; Choudhury claimed that his rubber plantation and home had been targeted multiple times in the past, with over 350 trees damaged six months ago. He suspects that the vandals were under the influence of alcohol when they destroyed the trees.
Choudhury has lodged a complaint with the Madhupur police, who have registered a case and launched an investigation. He believes the repeated attacks are due to his association with the CPI(M) and estimates the damage to be over Rs 5 lakh.
