AGARTALA, Sep 29 (TIWN): Durga puja started with enthusiasm as Maha-Saptami drew mass numbers of devotees across Tripura towards the puja pandals, and temples.
Devotees gathered to offer prayers to Goddess Durga from early morning in various pandals with thousands of Durga puja being observed in this state.
Durga puja, which is considered as the biggest festival of the Bengali community, brings joy for four days with long holidays observed by the state government offices, and educational institutions.

On Monday, Saptami puja which is considered as the first day of Durga puja was also observed in ancient temples in the state. Agartala Durga Bari is one of them where maintaining the traditional rituals, like every year, Durga puja was observed.
Hundreds of people were seen praying to Goddess Durga, offering "anjali" which is a form of homage to the Goddess of strength with flowers. "Bhog" which is composed of fruits and other foods was dedicated in the name of Goddess.
Durga puja that starts on Monday with Maha-Saptami will continue for four days followed by Ashtami, Navami, Dashami.
