According to villagers, the village committee had collectively decided to select a candidate through a lottery system and had chosen Piyush Debbarma, a poor youth from the village. However, without informing the villagers, the village and block authorities allegedly selected another youth, Kishore Debbarma, and later canceled his selection to appoint Chowdhury Bijoy Debbarma from a different village, Pekuarjala.

 

The villagers, outraged by the irregularities, gheraoed the Village Secretary on Monday. Under pressure, the Secretary claimed he had no role in the selection process and was merely following instructions from higher authorities. The villagers demanded transparency and accountability in the recruitment process.

 

The Block Development Officer has called a meeting with the villagers on September 25 to resolve the issue. The villagers are awaiting a fair resolution to the controversy.
