AGARTALA, Sep 17 (TIWN): The Vishalgarh Police conducted a raid on the homes of Gaurang Shil and Chandana Debbarma in East Champamura, seizing 170 liters of illicit liquor and arresting the duo. The operation was carried out under the leadership of Sub-Inspector Ram Mohan Debbarma and Assistant Sub-Inspector Arun Debbarma.
According to reports, the police received a tip-off about the illicit liquor operation being run from the homes of Shil and Debbarma. The police team, accompanied by TSR personnel, raided the homes and confiscated liquor-making equipment and rotten rice used in the production process.
During the raid, Chandana Debbarma reportedly argued with the police, questioning why they targeted his home instead of the ADC area where liquor was allegedly being manufactured. The police countered that the liquor produced in his home was harming local youth.
A case under the Tripura Excise Act has been registered against both accused. The police emphasized that such anti-narcotics operations are regular in the area and will continue in the future.
