AGARTALA, Sep 13 (TIWN): In 16 crore rupees embezzlement incident, a woman bank employee was arrested on Saturday by West Agartala Police. The arrested woman is Ramayani Srimayi, resident of Noagao, Assam. Police have produced her before the court. Police said, she was detained for further interrogation into the incident.
The arrest is related to an AMC Smart City fund that was withdrawn by a fake check and a fraudulent Hyderabad-based company.
Earlier, whereas AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder alleged that Bank employees were responsible for this incident, the opposition accused the ruling party-led administration of being held accountable for it.
Police said, whether anyone else is also involved in the incident can not be said now.
