AGARTALA, Sep 11 (TIWN): Khowai police lodged a suo moto FIR against five - Sudip Debbarma (Upa-Pradhan), Ananda Debnath, Sanjit Debnath, Gautam Tanti (panchayat member) and Dipak Debnath for obstructing funeral process of a cancer patient.

The matter came out after a family complained to police that the funeral process was stopped in the Amtali area in Khowai, as some people think, cancer is an infectious disease. 

Senior citizen Tapa Deb died of cancer after being bedridden for years, but when his family went to the graveyard for cremation, the issue erupted. Later, when the police reached the spot, the mob vandalized the police vehicle too.

Later, police lodged a suo-moto case against five persons for being involved in this incident.
