AGARTALA, Sep 8 (TIWN): A daring theft attempt was foiled at Melaghar Hospital when a thief was caught red-handed stealing solar batteries. The accused, Abdul Sattar, was apprehended by hospital security guards while attempting to flee with a stolen battery. His accomplice, Alamgir Hossain, managed to escape.
The stolen batteries are used to power lights in the hospital's emergency department during power outages. This incident is not isolated, as several batteries have been stolen from the hospital in the past.
The security guards caught Sattar off guard and handed him over to Melaghar police after administering a stern warning. The thieves allegedly posed as scrap collectors to gain access to the hospital and steal valuable items.
