AGARTALA, Aug 26 (TIWN): Residents of Kathalia Bari village in Rishyamukh block staged a road blockade to protest the poor condition of the road and the movement of heavy vehicles belonging to the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). The road, which connects Rishyamukh to Satshanda, has been in a dilapidated state for over a decade, causing immense hardship to the locals.
The situation worsened with the movement of ONGC's heavy vehicles, which further damaged the road. Although the government had initiated the reconstruction work, a significant portion of the road still remains to be repaired. The locals demanded that the road be made fit for traffic and threatened to continue the blockade if their demands were not met.
However, after the Public Works Department (PWD) began work on the road, the locals lifted the blockade. The Junior Engineer of the PWD assured that the road would be made traffic-worthy within three to four days and that the repair work would be completed soon.
